The Jewish Federation of Northeastern New York is hosting a one-time film screening of My Italian Secret: The Forgotten Heroes on Thursday, April 20, 7:00 PM and the GE Theatre at Proctors, 432 State Street Schenectady, NY.
My Italian Secret: The Forgotten Heroes reveals a clandestine Italian resistance movement that helped save many Jews during the Shoah. Among the figures spotlighted is Tour de France cycling champion Gino Bartali (voiced by Oscar nominee Robert Loggia). The film tells the story of brave Italians who defied the Nazis and Fascists to hide, rescue, and protect thousands of innocents during the Holocaust.
La Rabinessa Liora Kelman of Congregation Beth Israel will share her family history of survival. The Saranos of Milan were saved in the small Italian village of
Mobaroccio during the Holocaust.
Tickets are $5 each. To reserve your seat, visit www.proctors.org/events/my-italian-secret-forgotten-heroes or call the Proctors box office at (518) 346-6204.
