ALBANY–The Daughters of Sarah Auxiliary recently held its annual donor luncheon in the Founders Room at the nursing center. The luncheon helped to raise funds to support the auxiliary’s latest project. In addition, the efforts of Audrey Ellowitz noting her 10 years of leadership and service to the organization and the nursing center were recognized.
Following a sit-down luncheon prepared by Javier Melendez, executive chef and director of dining services at The Massry Residence on the Daughters of Sarah campus, guests were treated to a 90-minute floral arrangement demonstration program presented by Michele Peters, from Ambiance Floral & Events. Twelve various floral arrangements were created and raffled off at the conclusion of the event.
The auxiliary, in its current form, was established in 1994 as the result of a merger between the auxiliary chapters in Troy, Albany, and Schenectady. The work of the auxiliary is to raise money to fund specific programs and projects for the Daughters of Sarah Senior Community. Currently, the auxiliary has committed to renovating the beauty salon. “There is nothing like the smile on a resident’s face when they leave the salon with a fresh coiffure and feeling like a million dollars,” commented Barbara Wachs, luncheon coordinator and interim co-president of the auxiliary’s board of directors.
Those interested in donating to this cause or joining the auxiliary are invited to contact Wachs at 518-438-4726.
