AJCC Book Mavens to feature talk by Rabbi Magidson

ALBANY–Rabbi Beverly Magidson, director of chaplaincy services for the Jewish Federation of Northeastern N.Y., will review The Hired Girl by Laura Amy Schlitz on Wednesday, Aug. 15, at the Albany Jewish Community Center (AJCC) Book Mavens session. The program, from 3- 4:30 p.m., will be in the Massry Senior Center, 340 Whitehall Rd. The community is welcome to attend.

Written in diary form, the book relates a coming of age story while exploring themes of faith and feminism, love and literature, culture and class in early 20th century America.

Sixty-Plus Dining is available following the book talk at 5 p.m. in the Center’s auditorium. Reservations for  the dinner are taken up until 9:30 a.m. the day of the meal, 518-438-6651, ext. 112,
