Hadassah Capital District has announced that it will hold its annual Hadassah Shabbat service at Ohav Shalom synagogue, 113 New Krumkill Rd., Albany, on Saturday, Feb. 24, beginning at 9 a.m.
Margery Zucker and Phyllis Hecker, co-chairpersons, said that Hadassah members and Hadassah associates from all parts of the Capital District will participate in leading the services.
Following the service a light Kiddush lunch will be co-sponsored by the chapter and the congregation. The community is welcome to attend the Hadassah Shabbat.
Annually, this service is held close to the holiday of Purim to celebrate the founding of Hadassah, the Women’s Zionist Organization of America, by Henrietta Szold, on Purim in 1912. In this area around 1921, several chapters were formed in to the east, west and north of Albany. Seven Chapters merged into Hadassah Capital District in the late 1990s including two in Albany, Clifton Park, Colonie, Saratoga Springs, Schenectady, and Troy.
