An interfaith program of formation and education will be sponsored by St. Peter’s Health Partners from 9 until 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 3. Local clergy and chaplains will participate.
“The Promise of Paradise”—a fundamental hope in some form of existence beyond this life—is shared by many world religions.
Rabbi Dr. Chanan Markowitz of Congregation Beth Shalom in Clifton Park, Imam Dr. Abdulkadir Elmi, the resident imam and khateeb of Masjid As-salam in the city of Albany and Rev. Dr. Byron Williams, columnist, author, and public theologian will offer reflections sharing the central ideas concerning the “Promise of Paradise” from each of their faith traditions. Each will present a quote from their sacred text alluding to the promise of paradise or an afterlife and discuss their tradition’s understanding of an afterlife.
Also included will be appropriate ways to minister to those grieving a loss.
The program is open to the public. The link for the Webex is: https://trinity-health.webex.com/meet/brendan.moss
