Dr. Brendan Doherty

The Capital District Council of the Jewish War Veterans, with the support of Schenectady Post 106 and Congregation Beth Israel 2195 Eastern Parkway, Schenectady, invites Jewish veterans and members of the community to an in-person program to commemorate Veterans Day on Sunday morning, Nov. 14, at 10 a.m. The program will also be available to the community via Zoom.

A kosher breakfast will be catered by the congregation’s sisterhood.

Speaker will be Dr. Brendan Doherty, professor of political science at the U.S. Naval Academy. Doherty will discuss “Jews at the Naval Academy: Continuing a Tradition of Service.”

Doherty teaches courses on the presidency, campaigns and elections, Congress, and American politics. He earned his doctorate from the University of California, Berkeley and his bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth College.

Any area Jewish veteran not yet a member of JWV is invited to attend as a guest of the Schenectady JWV Post 106.

The cost for JWV members, non-veterans and spouses is $18.
