SCHENECTADY – The Schenectady Jewish Community Center (SJCC) continues its yearlong 100th anniversary celebration this month with a focus on heart health. This month features virtual and in-person events as well as a month-long challenge with daily activities to encourage healthy habits, including fitness, cooking and decreasing stress.

“The Talmud states, ‘Do not stand too long, for standing too long is harmful to the heart’ or in other words, a heart that is not active deteriorates and cannot help the body as a whole,” said Center Campus Director, Andy Katz. “The Schenectady JCC continues to provide programming to improve the health of its members and community through our fitness initiatives and cultural programs. We are excited to be celebrating this month and a milestone in our organization’s anniversary by highlighting the impact we have on our members.”

The JCC will also host an Outdoor Winter Family Fun Day on Monday, Feb. 15, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Center 2565 Balltown Rd. The event will include winter activities such as sledding, a bonfire and winter hikes on the 25-acre property. Refreshments will be served.
