HILLEL EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR RABBI NOMI MANON

A weeklong fundraising effort aimed at strengthening Jewish campus life is underway at the University at Albany Hillel, as part of the annual Hillel Global Giving Week.

Running through Friday, the initiative brings together more than 180 Hillel chapters worldwide to raise funds for Jewish college students. At UAlbany, organizers say a matching gift opportunity will amplify donations, with every dollar contributed matched up to $5,000.

The campaign seeks to support programming and services that foster community, leadership development and Jewish identity among students. Leaders say Hillel plays a central role in campus life by providing a space for both social connection and personal growth.

“At UAlbany Hillel, students find a place to gather with friends as well as a home to support them through both joyful and challenging moments,” said Rabbi Nomi Manon, executive director of the organization. “Hillel is where they find belonging and explore who they are and who they want to become.”

Supporters are being encouraged to contribute during the campaign window, with organizers emphasizing the added impact of matched donations. Funds raised will go toward sustaining and expanding programming designed to engage Jewish students on campus.

Organizers say the effort reflects a broader push to invest in the future of Jewish life on college campuses, both locally and globally.
