Kai Marai, the 11-year-old Druze girl who was the most seriously wounded in the July 27 Hezbollah rocket attack on the Golan Heights, has regained full consciousness, Haifa’s Rambam Medical Center said on Wednesday, Aug. 12.
Marai “surprised even the doctors” with her rapid improvement, the hospital said. She regained consciousness on Tuesday, and her medical condition is now classified as moderate.
She remains hospitalized at Rambam’s Ruth Rappaport Children’s Hospital and is expected to be released soon. The Haifa medical center shared a message from Marai’s mother, who thanked the “medical team that saved the life of my daughter, who has a long recovery ahead of her,” and “all Israeli citizens who supported, helped and prayed for the children’s recovery.”
Hezbollah terrorists murdered 12 children and wounded more than 40 people in the July 27 rocket attack—the deadliest Hezbollah attack since the Iran-backed group joined the war in support of Hamas on Oct. 8. Hezbollah has fired drones, missiles and rockets across the border on a near-daily basis.
A 12-year-old boy, whose condition is classified as light, remains hospitalized at Rambam Medical Center, the hospital said He is scheduled to be sent home within days.
