Palestinian rocket fire from the Gaza Strip continued Wednesday night, May 10, towards southern and central Israel.

Rocket alert sirens sounded in Sderot, Ashkelon, Beersheva and Tel Aviv, among other locations.

Upwards of 100 rockets were launched towards the Jewish state, according to media reports.

There were no immediate reports of injuries, but damage was caused to several properties.

Shortly thereafter, the Israel Air Force struck numerous terror targets in Gaza.

The exchange came despite reports Israel and Gaza-based terrorist groups had agreed in principle to an Egyptian-mediated ceasefire to end 36 hours of violence.

U.S. and Qatari officials reportedly also were involved in the effort to restore calm.

“We dealt Islamic Jihad the most significant blow it has ever suffered,” said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a televised address to the nation Wednesday night.

“I have a message to the terrorists and to those who send them: We see you in every place. You cannot evade us. And we, not you, decide when to strike,” he said.

The premier thanked the security services and forces for their around-the-clock effort to defend against and target Palestinian terrorists.

Earlier Wednesday, terrorists in the Gaza Strip unleashed several barrages of rockets, breaking a tense, day-long calm following the IDF’s targeted killing of three top Palestinian Islamic Jihad members on Tuesday.

Warning sirens sounded across communities near the Gaza border, as well as in Ashkelon, Ashdod and the greater Tel Aviv area. Terrorists fired some 300 projectiles in several salvos, according to the military.

In response, Israel Air Force jets struck PIJ rocket infrastructure across the Strip.

The military said that more than 100 Palestinian terror assets were hit.
