Jazz-folk-classical-burlesque were blended in a fun show at SPAC, Friday, Aug. 4, as pianist and bandleader Thomas Lauderdale and singer China Forbes brought their Pink Martini “little orchestra” to interact with the Philadelphia Orchestra.
Activities included giveaways of albums, and a variety of performances, including a four-hands improvised version of “Rhapsody in Blue”  and original songs. Lauderdale commented, “I think this is the first time the Philadelphia Orchestra has participated in a dance contest!”
Solo singers included Edna Vazquez and Jimmie Herrod.
