The Jewish Federation of Northeastern New York (JFNENY) will host a free program, “It Could Happen Here,” a conversation with Anti-Defamation League (ADL) CEO and author of It Could Happen Here, Jonathan Greenblatt. The lecture is set for Wednesday, Sept. 21, from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at the GE Theatre at Proctors.

As CEO of ADL, Greenblatt has made it his personal mission to demonstrate how anti-Semitism, racism, and other insidious forms of intolerance can destroy a society. His book offers readers a bracing primer on how we —as individuals, organizations and as a society —can strike back against such hatred. He sounds the alarm about how the anti-Semitism and hate-related violence once relegated to far-off places is intensifying in the U.S., and how violence on an even larger, more catastrophic scale could be around the corner if we don’t act now.
Greenblatt joined ADL in 2015 after serving in the White House as special assistant to President Barack Obama and director of the office of social innovation and civic participation. He joined the government after a career in business as a successful social entrepreneur and corporate executive. Greenblatt cofounded Ethos Brands, the company that launched Ethos Water.
