ALBANY–Magic will be in the air as Congregation Beth Emeth’s Sisterhood holds its annual Susan B. Shpeen Memorial Donor Dinner on Sunday, June 9. This year’s dinner event will feature magician Jim Snack as entertainer, with his performance underwritten by The Rabbi Scott L. Shpeen Distinguished Artist Fund. It will be held at the synagogue, 100 Academy Rd., Albany starting with a cocktail hour at 5 p.m., followed by a buffet dinner by Capital City BBQ and Catering.

The dinner will include the drawing of the winning ticket for the sisterhood’s raffle. One hundred tickets are being sold at $18 each offering a chance to win a $500 gift card to a store or restaurant of the winner’s choice. Tickets maybe purchased via the congregation’s website, www.BethEmethAlbany.org.

Tickets to the dinner also are available on the website, $80 per person at the donor level or $110 per person at the double-donor level. The proceeds will help support the sisterhood’s activities on behalf of Beth Emeth .

The annual dinner honors the memory of Susan Shpeen, the wife of Rabbi Emeritus Scott Shpeen. Susan Shpeen, who died in 2009, was an active member of the sisterhood, serving as treasurer. In her professional life, Shpeen was the executive director of the Albany Jewish Community Center.
