Schlichim and founders of Capital Chabad, Rabbi Israel and Rochel Rubin, will be honored at the 50th year Jubilee on Sunday, Dec. 8,
Friends of Capital Chabad will celebrate a 50 Year Jubilee honoring its founders, Rabbi Israel and Rochel Rubin, who were sent to this area by the late Rebbe Menachem Mendel Schneerson of the the Lubavitcher Chabad (often know as the rebbe) to start a regional Chabad chapter here in 1974.
Today, there are more than a dozen local Chabad Centers serving local community and college students, and also centers in the surrounding region of northeastern NYS.
The afternoon event will be on Sunday. Dec 8, be at 1:30 p.m. at the Shabbos House, 320 Fuller Rd., Albany. The significance of this date is that it is the Sunday between the two Torah portions of Vayeitzei and Vayishlach, and the 45th anniversary of the a letter of the Lubavitcher rebbe gleaning inspiration and encouragement from these two Torah portions. It was addressed to Capital Chabad, which was then noting its 5th year celebration.
Program will include a buffet, reflections of the five decades and a showcasing area Chabad Centers.
The charge for the event is $50 per person.
Those wishing to place a message in the commemorative journal to be published for the event may do so for $50. There will also be opportunities to participate in “decades sponsorships” and in taped video greetings.
