SCHENECTADY – Congregation Agudat Achim Adult Education Committee has announced a series of four lectures by Dr. Stephen Berk, professor of history at Union College and scholar-in-residence for the congregation for over 30 years.
The series is entitled, “Books, Prose, and the Course of Modern History” and lectures will be presented on Thursdays from 7:30-9 p.m.at the synagogue, 2117 Union St., Schenectady. Dates of the lectures are Sept. 28, Oct. 5, 12, and 19. Lectures will be in-person. Berk will review Russia and the Soviet Union and reflect on books by Lenin, Solzhenitsyn, and Boris Pasternak in his first lecture.
According to Agudat Achim administrators, the cost for the entire series is $54. Lectures may also be attended individually at $18 a lecture. Information about each lecture may be obtained by contacting the congregation at 518-393-9211.
