GLENS FALLS–Congregation Shaaray Tefila will join the congregation of Temple Beth El at the temple,  3 Marion  Ave., this Saturday night, Sept, 28, at 7 p.m. for a havdalah and selichot service. Selichot  will be led by Ellen Katz and it is expected to be a short service filled with music, prayers, spices and resolve.

Those planning to attend are asked to bring a dessert to share.

According to organizers, the High Holiday season begins with Rosh HaShanah and the start of Tishrei. Jewish tradition, however, teaches that the preceding month of Elul is a time of soul-searching and reflection to prepare oneself for the magnitude of the Days of Awe. The shofar is blown every morning during Elul to wake Jews up to fulfilling their potential and it is during this time that selichot is observed.

Information may be obtained by calling Temple Beth El.
