Celebrating 40 years! On-screen center, Rabbi Zoe B. Zak, Temple Israel of Catskill, joined Rabbi Julie Wolkoff, hospital chaplain (Boston); Rabbi Wendy Love Anderson, Temple Israel, Albany; Cantor Emily Short, Beth Emeth (Albany); Rabbi Danielle Weisbrot, B’nai Sholom (Albany); Rabbi Rena Kieval, retired from Ohav Shalom, Albany; and Rabbi Susan Gulack, prison and psych center chaplain (Albany and elsewhere). Rabbi Beverly Magidson, retired community chaplain (Albany); Rabbi Debora S. Gordon, Berith Sholom (Troy); Rabbi Nomi Manon, Hillel at UAlbany and Rabbi Suzanne Schemerhorn, Knesseth Israel (Gloversville) at a recent  gathering and the session resulted in a program set for March 31,

“In Celebration of 40 Years of Women Rabbis and Cantors in the Capital District: An Afternoon of Learning Together.”

Presenters for the program, “In Celebration of 40 Years of Women Rabbis and Cantors in the Capital District: An Afternoon of Learning Together,” have been announced by Rabbi Beverly W. Magidson, an organizer. The program will take place at Temple Israel, 600 New Scotland Ave., Albany, on Sunday, March 31, 1 – 3:30 p.m.  It is open to the public, free of charge.

Presenters are: Wendy Love Anderson: “Women Rabbis and Spiritual Leaders Before the 20th Century,” Debora Gordon: “Women’s Voices at the Sea and at Sinai: Contemporary Midrash,” Susan Gulack: “Embodied Prayer: Signing as a Path to Understanding and Embracing Prayer,” Rena Kieval: “Women Poets on the Bible,” Beverly W. Magidson: “The History of Women Rabbis’ Admission to the Conservative Movement,” Linda Motzkin: “Sacred Sewing Circle — an opportunity to participate in The Community Torah Project by helping to sew two panels of Torah together,”  Julie Wolkoff: “B’Tzelem Elohim: Finding God’s Image in the World of Dementia,” and Zoe B. Zak: “The Joy of Niggun — A Song Without Words.”
